Cantankerous Old Man Let me start here:  Is it broke in yet?  I don't think so!

According to the site 'Bob the oil guy', in his H-D thread, it takes 10k to break-in a motor with Syn3 at the regular intervals.  As I elected not to follow this based on the Amsoil site and warranty implications.  Changing the oil @ 2500 intervals and alternating the product has extended the break-in to 19k.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1457363&fpart=1
(somewhere in this thread?  Interesting reading in here!)

In the begining, 6th gear was almost useless because a minimum of 65mph was necessary as not to lug the engine.  At 70mph it would carry a slight grade.  But recently after a few trips to Thunder in the Valley, Johnstown, Pa,  I finally felt a change in the performance which allowed 6th gear to carry the load without lugging @ 60mph and carry a more significant grade.  All gears seem to be able to carry the load at lower rpms with much more flexibility.  There has been no changes to my bike to account for this.

In essence, if you have not achieved a minimum of 10k miles, you probably haven't reached the full potential of what your bike has to offer!

Just thought you would like to know! Nixweiss.........Jack

I'm at 30K and have broke mine in 4 times I think. I do engine work more often than I change tires.

Cantankerous Old Man thanks for showing up guys.  Wasn't this the FXSTSSE section with only one other SE Springer reporting over 18k miles (over there)?  Haven;t ck'd bk to the other planet to see otherwise.  I can barely stand youn's as it is.

Was at a Patriot Guard assignment next to a SE Roadking  and man did that thing shake at idle!

Just had 3rd set of tires installed for the season and the rear seams to be a bit shallow, after @5k into the season.

I think I probably burned 3/32 off the rear, without changing the pressure like you said I should, Howie!

But, I burned the remainder of the last rr tire off at your suggestion and the grip was a bit chunkier!

Crap, I probably said to much already! Beat Dead Horse

Those 4th gear burnouts will do that!

ooooopps! did I use my outside voice?

18k is a respectable number and the tires being changed at a rate more than engines is a plus.

at 9500 miles I am still on my first set of tires and second engine

Cantankerous Old Man Keats,  was on a H-D site somewhere in the universe a while back and noticed a class action suit against the manufacturer on the 110 engine, but you probably already knew that! Beat Dead Horse

I do not think it will do me any good though,

the only thing you can count on from class action lawsuits, is getting the lawyers wealthy.
