Picked up my SESG in blue Thursday.Had passed on a spiced rum & was afraid my dealer couldn't find me a blue one,but between a dealer wanting her CUSE & a guy backing out of my SESG It's in my garage At first I felt like I was on a mini bike.Distance between the seat & foot boards is shorther than my '04 SEEG.Sure extenders out & foreward will help that.After a couple hundred miles I don't notice it as much.Seat feels good,but really like the solo look with a chopped tour pac.Feel they really cheeped out on the POS mirrors & passenger foot pegs.It's a touring bike,why wouldn't you want foot boards ???Why no rider back rest Huh?   $$$ ??Would have expected lowers also although I didn't leave them on my SEEG.Would have liked to try vented lowers.Used my buckle on soft lowers a lot,but not with the mustache bar.Put crash bars on my '04 so I could use my guard bags.Don't know if I will on this one yet.Like the way it looks with out them.Told me to keep it under 50 for 50 miles.Didn't say in what gear.Like every one says,handles a LOT better than the pre '08s.

Agree on the back rest too...that's the next accessory that I'm getting for mine.  As far as the rest of the things...the floorboards don't bother me...I'm 6'4".  I may move them up and out a little.  The rear foot pegs is keeping with the Street Glide theme.  The standard SG doesn't have floorboards for the the pax either.  The way i looked at it, if I wanted lowers and a tour pak and all of that other stuff, I would have bought the SEUC and not the SESG.  Fortunately, when I do need to ride a bike with all of that stuff on it, I have the '07 SEUC to ride. Smiley  That's why I guess I don't need all of that other stuff on my SESG.

Think the new rear suspension's going to work great,but what a PITA to adjust. Ran it firmer for 2 up today & the knob turns harder than hell.Helps to go slow to let the oil go where it has to,but could use a 1/2 or 3/8 Sq drive in the end of the knob.

Think the new rear suspension's going to work great,but what a PITA to adjust. Ran it firmer for 2 up today & the knob turns harder than hell.Helps to go slow to let the oil go where it has to,but could use a 1/2 or 3/8 Sq drive in the end of the knob.

I agree, they could have made the knob a little more accessable so you don't have to unhook the left saddle bag every time you want to adjust.  Plus the knob is kind of tucked in behind the down tube of the frame and if you have bigger hands, it's hard to adjust.   I didn't notice that hard to turn though. I have mine cranked up 12 turns ...

Just replace the inner with one for a regular eglide.  Plain, gloss black like you have now, or painted to match.  Of course, it means another expenditure.  That's why I commented earlier about how the MoCo cheaped out on the parts while jacking the price.  With the popularity of the SG over the past couple years, they figure folks will pay (and pay, and pay).

Radar Detecter?  Have no idea if it'd fit or work.  Just an Idea.  My other would be to have it filled and sanded then paint the whole inner fairing to match the paint.

Personally, I prefer the fairing mounted mirrors over the handle bar mounted ones.  I think it cleans up the handle bar lines and also puts the mirrors in a more natural line of sight.  At least for me it does.  What I'm probalby going to do with mine is put the chrome covers on them.  That should dress them up a little.  I agree, the least the MoCo should have done was painted them gloss black instead of leaving them bare plastic....

Kuryakyn has released a part to cover the hole left behind by removing fairing mount mirrors.  As always whether one likes it or not is up to individual taste.  But it's the only thing I know intended to hide that hole if the mirrors are removed.  Check out Kuryakyn part # 3767.

I used to feel exactly the same way Charlie.

I always hated the handlebar mirrors on dressers.  Gave me a great view of my shoulders.  I hunted for 4 months to find a set of Fairing mounts for my 91 Classic.  Put the SG style on my '99 about a week after I broght it home.  Dreaded cutting the holes into the painted fairing for Nemo but I new I'd have to do it as I put safety first and need to see behind me.

But a funny thing happened on the way home.  I discovered the curved arms on the SE mirrors worked!  I could actually see better then I could with the SG setup I had on my '99.  So I've been happy with mine ever since.

Is it just me, or has Kuryakan hired some gothic architect to design all their covers and do dads?  It reminds me of some bad transylvania sets from the old horror movies.  I used to like Kuryakan stuff, but now I'm very limited in what pieces I can even stomach, let alone like.

It's not just you...

Interesting that something like that is (finally) available, but I'd rather go to the expense and inconvenience of replacing the inner fairing before using that piece.  Very weird. Shocked

Yeah Brian, to my tastes that's a butt ugly little part.  Could sketch some ideas that would complement much more effectively there.  Though you're right, no hole would be the best option.

Kury has some more interesting new pieces to dress up the side and rear of a king tour pak though....  Roll Eyes
