Interesting piece in the 3/15/10 issue of Time titled "In defense of debt" Pick up a copy and read it. I thought I'd seen the spinmeisters go at this topic from every angle til I read this. I'll be interested to read some comments from you folks on this one.

I saw that yesterday. I was in a Dr.s waiting room and couldn't finish it. Here's a link. Spending more than what's taken in has lead to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the economy of Argentina. If that happens to the US it could take the whole world with it since the global economy is based on the US dollar. But what do I know about economics other than "buy low, sell high"? http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1969745,00.html

But what do I know about economics other than "buy low, sell high"? http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1969745,00.htmlIt is hard to have a robust economy when 60 to 70 percent of GDP is consumer driven. The article doesn't even touch the looming problems in commercial realestate. Go run around your own towns and look at all the commercial property up for rent, many businesses have been closing over the years and due to consumers not buying much very few new businesses are leasing those properties. The owners of the properties still have to pay the banks for the loans the made to build or purchase these properties and can only survive so long before they default. Many economists are talking of 2011 as when the real problems start in the commercial space. Our current deficit is about 85% of GDP for one year. Congress just extended the debt limit to very close to 100%, 14.1 trillion dollars hoping they can make it all the way until 2011 before they need to extend it again. Obama's spending is just getting started and he is spending amazing amounts of money. http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/I for one think 20 trillion in debt by 2020 will cripple our way of life as we know it today. God help us all.

The Cartoon Channel now has higher ratings than MSNBC & CNN & Headline News. Not a joke.
Well, they are jokes, but it tells a lot about what has happened to those 2.
FNC is the #2 cable net. USA network is #1.

Is there any doubt Obama is the real life Manchurian Candidate? Obama surrenders gulf oil to Moscow The Russians are coming - to drill in our own backyard By THE WASHINGTON TIMES The Obama administration is poised to ban offshore oil drilling on the outer continental shelf until 2012 or beyond. Meanwhile, Russia is making a bold strategic leap to begin drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. While the United States attempts to shift gears to alternative fuels to battle the purported evils of carbon emissions, Russia will erect oil derricks off the Cuban coast. http://washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/18/obama-surrenders-gulf-oil-to-moscow/

Well in all of my years,
I have never seen anything like it in politics.
Most have the keen since of survival.
To ram this Health care bill down Americans throat in the face of such a disapproval
from the public is amazing.
I would never guessed in a million years that one political party would commit suicide like this.
We seldom believe what our leaders speak of, but I would have greater patience if they had an accountability for their actions.
Obama has declared that this would be better for the country, but what if he is wrong? (which I believe)
He moves on and we are stuck with another entitlement program that we cannot get rid of.
Government is never held accountable..........
Spending will be our destruction....................
I do not care what party you may be affiliated with, but fiscal responsibility should be the only criteria needed next election.
Social issues I do not care about any longer.......
There is no hope if this is not addressed soon.
I too am sick and tired of the BS. Why is it that we the middle class working class always have to pay for this stuff? I really wish they would cut back on all this dissability stuff and give it to the real dissabled people. It would save MILLIONS. I work in an environment where have the people are on public assistance or dissability. I am sick and tired of seeing people on dissabitity getting arrested for an agressive crime but can't work because they have a bad leg or back. Well they sre well enough to beat on someone! TAKE IT AWAY. When is the last time that the Government said hey that $800.00 or so dollars a month we GIVE you is gonna be dropped down to $600.00 Until our economy improves. This will be your way of helping out seing you don't want to work. I just found out this year that in Michigan you can file for a tax return eventhough you did not work or have never worked. How can you get somthng back when you have never PAID into it! I am soooooo sick of this crap. Topper

THE STIMULUS AT WORK
Some have said that the stimulus hasn't saved any jobs, but here is a case where at least one job was saved. Oregon State University Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis was considering firing their basketball coach, Craig Robinson, after an 8-11 start (2-5 in the Pac 10 conference). When word of this reached Washington, Undersecretary of Education Martha Kanter was dispatched to Corvallis with $17 million in stimulus money for the university. Craig Robinson's job is safe for this year. For those of you unfamiliar with Coach Robinson, he just so happens to be Michelle Obama's brother. Just a coincidence I'm sure!
Received via email......not sure if there is any truth but it would not suprise me

If I might, I think those of you who have not already done so would find reading the Unabomber's Manifesto - - - hmmmmmmm enlightening perhaps, interesting maybe, downright prophetic possibly ? You can bring it up simply by Googling Unabomber Manifesto. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Too bad he didn't just hit the lecture circuit and not kill anyone. People would be standing on their chairs and cheering for him these days.

Don't lose any sleep over it Jim. It doesn't go into effect until 2014 and come November the Dems will lose control of Congress and the new Congress will repeal the POS. Barring something catclysmic, this is the future of politics in the United States. The ruling party passes legislation that gets repealed when the balance of power changes hands and the net effect is that the political system is rendered impotent. Hmmmmmmm that's a good thing isn't it.

It'll get changed for the reasons you cite but it'll take a constitutional amendment to repeal it. That was one of the lines that I most disliked about it. I believe it'll take a republican congress to add tort reform and interstate insurance competition. I believe the democrats fell on their swords for this. There'll be a major power switch at the end of this year.
